- For the first 42 years of my life, I didn't even know that I had the woodcarving talent. I was first inspired by my Uncle Joe who has been carving for over 50 years. The first project I tried was a walking stick using a Tom Wolfe book over the 97-98 Christmas Holiday and it turned out pretty well. A few blue ribbons later I began writing my own carving books.
